Our Team
Roger Katz, LPCA, NCC
I’m Roger Katz, I provide inclusive, evidence-based, solution-focused emotional, mental and behavioral therapies to individuals ages 8-adult, couples, families and groups using a variety of modalities depending upon my patient’s presenting issues and objectives. My training and practice covers a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, infidelity, and the impacts of neurodiversity on emotional communication, emotional regulation, executive functioning, as well as the challenges of ADHD and related learning differences that affect functioning at home, work, school, and socially.
I received my graduate training at the University of South Carolina, concentrating in Marriage, Couples and Family Counseling. My supervised clinical training and internship was completed at the Institute of Psychiatry (IOP) at MUSC, where I was on staff with Project Rex, providing a range of mental health, behavioral and emotional support to individuals and families affected by autism spectrum conditions and intellectual and developmental disabilities.
I enjoy working with adults, couples, and children, teenagers, and their families to meet their unique challenges. My general treatment approach is client/person-centered (Rogerian) and includes principles of Family Systems, Attachment, and Existential theories. I focus on building a collaborative relationship in order to identify, highlight and utilize my client’s inherent strengths to promote self-awareness, self-acceptance and enhance my client’s ability and willingness to make their own decisions based on their unique lived experiences and their individual motivations and expectations.
As a therapist, I am here to help my client obtain his/her/their goals, not to impose my beliefs.

Summer Vail PHD, LMFT
I’m Dr. Summer Vail, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and an AAMFT Approved Clinical Supervisor. I earned my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Alabama in my hometown of Tuscaloosa, before pursuing a PhD at Kansas State University. My doctoral work focused on researching, teaching, and treating interpersonal trauma and family violence, as well as providing clinical supervision.
In addition to my work with relationship trauma, I am passionate about helping families affected by addiction. I especially enjoy supporting spouses and children who are looking to heal from the impact of a loved one’s addiction and transform the way they relate to others.
As an LMFT, I specialize in working with couples, families (ages 14+), and individuals who are struggling with chronic stress, complex trauma, anxiety, life transitions, and collegiate mental health. In my work with couples and families, I teach members how to meet each other’s needs while holding themselves accountable.
I take a holistic approach to therapy, helping clients understand their emotions, rewrite their personal narratives, and unlock healing through the body. I believe that true change requires a balance of support and challenge. I provide a judgment-free space where we can get to the heart of the issue.
I also recognize that everyone’s experiences are shaped by their unique identities, and I strive to create a space where all clients feel heard, understood, and respected. I use a socio-culturally informed approach to ensure that every client feels valued in the therapeutic process.
